Questions

What is EXIF data?

Photos from phones and cameras carry hidden details called EXIF data. It often includes the exact place a photo was taken, the date and time, and the phone that took it. It goes wherever the file goes.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Exif reads the photo in your browser, on your device. Nothing is sent anywhere, unless you choose to show the map, which sends only the coordinates to Google Maps.

How do I remove it?

Add a photo, then choose Save a clean copy. You get the same picture with the hidden details taken out, ready to share.

Don't apps remove it already?

Most social apps strip it when you post. Photos sent by email, AirDrop, cloud links or as a file in chat apps usually keep all of it.
